Hi, forgot to put that the cracks that appear in the first 12 months should only be hairline cracks and if you want to touch them up it shouldn't stand out too much if you use a matt finish. If you think they need more then you could just give the walls another coat. If you do do the latter try putt...

Hi, I would make sure all the paste is off the walls first then use polyfiller to fill all the marks and drilled holes. The flexible filler is not really any good for this type of thing, but it is good for going around the skirting boards and the edge of the ceiling and around the doorways. After th...

Hi, yes just a very light sanding to get rid of any little bits that may be on the walls. The more of the marks that you can get rid of at this stage will mean that you will get a better finish and it will be easier to decorate in the future. You may find that the splashes are just that and if you r...

Hi, once the walls have dried out there is nothing stopping you painting them whatever colour you want. As it's a new house there will most probably be some settling with the walls so expect some small cracks to appear in say the first 12 months. You say the walls have not been painted at all which ...

Hi Billy Nomates, just wet it and scape it off. Put a little bit of washing up liquid in the water. Then if it's still a bit messy after that wash the walls down. Are you painting the walls afterwards or wallpapering again?

Hi Monkfish, if you are going to tile the walls and there is only a 1-2mm difference why do you need to sand them. The tile adhesive can be put on to cover this difference.

Hi hollyanne, all you can really do is score it well and get the surface rough. If you can get it loose close to the top then get some soapy water into it, it will help. Don't take off the loose bits if you can help it as they will hold some water which will get behind the paper. It can be a slow jo...

Hi, the only problem with getting it reskimmed with paper still in place is if it starts to bubble or as in some cases you start getting woodchips in with the plaster. I have seen this happen in the past and it's not a pretty sight. If it works by leaving the plaster on it will save a lot of time an...

Hi Anthony, not the best surface to get paper off. I think that you will need to carry on with wetting it and scraping. If you put a bit of washing up liquid in with some warm water it will keep the paper damp for longer without getting the plasterboard too wet. You are right about the steamer, they...

Hi, all you should need to do to remove it is loosen a piece in corner top or bottom and pull, no need to wet it first. It usually comes away in one piece. Then place the sheets of it on the floor next to the wall, wet the lining paper part of it which will still be on the wall and scrape it off. Wh...

Hi sweete, you haven't put a lot to go on. Is the wall water stained, how big is the area, is the lining paper painted and if so how long ago was it done. If you could put a bit more information I may be able to give decent answer.

Hi margo, sounds like you are having trouble with this kitchen. Where are the fumes coming from, is it the units, walls or woodwork. If it's the woodwork and you are using traditional Gloss and undercoat then the fumes will go after you have put the gloss on. It should be the same for the units. As ...

Hi, although there is nothing stopping you from wallpapering anytime after the walls have dried out properly I think it's best to wait at least 6 months or maybe a bit longer. This is because although the walls may be dry there maybe some movement which will cause cracks. If it's a new build usually...

Hi margo, if you are following the instructions on the paint can it could be that you are not using good quality brush. If you want a really good finish then a good brush is needed. There is another thing that can be used on kitchen cabinets and that is FABLON PLUS. All the DIY stores sell it. I use...
