Re: RCD tripping

Hi jimmy, the problem is due to a residual current and not an over-current, hence the mcb is fine. I have put a multimeter across the two earths(ring main and the boiler which is earth bonded at the gas meter), they measure zero voltage and almost no resistance as expected. But as soon as I connect ...

RCD tripping

I am having a new boiler installed and experiencing problems with the RCD tripping out. The boiler, fitted in the loft is being temporarily power by one of the ring mains. When power is taken from upstairs, it trips instantly. If I take extension downstairs if lasts around 2 minutes before tripping....

Thanks for the advice stoneyboy.

Does anyone have any experience with DryLinePro or Rigifix plugs?

They sound like a good solution based on this review

Attaching plasma TV/floating wall to plasterboard outerwall

I am attempting to build a floating wall to mount my TV as a way of reducing the load on the existing plasterboard outer wall. Although a lot of the load will be trasnmitted to the floor, there will still be a considerable moment acting trying to pull the frame away from the wall. I believe my house...

draughts and noisy fan with open gas fire power flue

Does anyone have any recommendations on which power flue is the quietest and if any offer the ability to shutoff the vent to prevent draughts (I've heard Matchless fires have some kind of system to close the vent off, I'm not sure if this can be retro-fitted to any other system though) I can not und...

Thank you all for your replies. I managed to release one side, but the other was impossible. I had to resort to draining and taking the gate valves off with the pump. The stubborn one finally came off with the pump in a vice, the gasket fell apart though, which brings me to another question - can yo...

Any tips for removing a stubborn central heating pump?

I have been trying to loosen the two brass nuts without success. Been using one adjustable holding the smaller end of the adjacent gate valve, and a pump wrench on the larger nut which I'm trying to turn. Even with the second spanner, the pipes are beginning to twist and I feel uneasy about putting ...

Thanks for the advice plumbbob.

I suppose my biggest concern is that over restricting the flow will lead a high pressure burst of a pipe/joint, or worst still inside the cylinder coil. I have no idea whether a pump is capable of doing this though.

Balancing radiators with a single 2-port valve system

I updated this post to try and make it a little clearer. Unfortunately my system doesn't conform to any of the Honeywell 'sundial' plans, and I can't find any schematic that has the same layout (it isn't gravity fed) ------- I am struggling to sort out a problem with a single radiator not getting ho...
