the window frame will most certainly be sitting ontop of the cill. depending on the style of glazing you have will depend on how easy the window will be to locate the screws and take out. You may find that if its been rendered : a: the removal of the render may prove hard to and will almost definatly deface some of the bricks. b: the bricks beneath the render will be layed in the fashion of that the builder was aware that it was being rendered and it probably wont be the best of qual...

I always use a product called keim render. Its perfect for what you are looking for, although make sure whoever puts it on has used it before as its not applicated the same way as normal render. They also sell the special paint for the render or you can have it ready mixed in with the render. google...

its very unlikely that its load bearing, although its always worth just chop ping out a small section of ceiling nxt to the offending wall to double check, or get up in the roofspace to have a look if you have access.

Take the window out, itll make life a lot easier. if its a ground floor window just get someone to help you take it out. If its a first floor window its probly better and safer to pay someone to do the job.
