Although wanting to be sympathic this is really a valuble lesson. I have been a buidling contractor for some 20 years and my experience has taught me that customers on unrealistic budgets will always become embroiled with cowboy builders. In some ways the customers is as bad as the so called cowboy....

I would say your time would be better spent researching a compatible door first as many of the suppliers of kitchen units are born from the same factory site but with a different trade name. Lifes too short for carrying out relocating hinges etc
