Can I cut a steel reinforced lintel to size?

I want to replace an old wooden bathroom window with a new upvc window. Above the old wooden window is a piece of wood above the brickwork, this will have to be removed and a lintel put in place. What i need to know is can i buy a lintel and shorten it to fit the gap? I am a novice diyer, the bathro...

decided on dimmer pull switch

have decided on one dimming pull switch to replace original pull switch, there are a red and black wire from one cable, and a seperate red wire, dunno where these go in fitting?? :wink:

Fitting a dimming pull switch

I am replacing my old pull switch to a dimming pull switch.
There is a black and a red wire and also a seperate red wire in the old unit, why 2 reds and one black, there is a red and black coming out of one cable with seperate red.
any help? :?:

I am keeping the bathroom, the pull switch and light fitting is not required, the room will remain as a bathroom, the other light fitting will be changed to a new chrome light fitting with 4 bulbs.

disconnect ceiling light fitting

Hi

Having removed the studwall in the bathroom I want to disconnect the pull string mechanism and actual light fitting.

What do i do?

Do i just cut the wires and tape them??

Please help asap.

Erecting a ceiling in the kitchen

How do I erect a ceiling in the kitchen, is it as simple as nailing plasterboard to the beams and then either plastering over the boards or can i artex over the plasterboards?
