Kitchen corner wall unit problem

I`m fitting a heavy corner wall unit onto a wall which lies at 100 degrees (i.e when one face is flat to one wall there is a 20mm gap at the other at the extreme) . There are no service gaps at the back ( 18mm butted carcass all around ). I`m attaching using #12 screws with large flat washers to avo...

Fused connection unit with surface outlet?

Have they stopped making fused connection units with a surface outlet ( hole on cover plate).
All the main manufacterers M.K ; Crabtree ; Volex etc don`t seem to make them anymore.
The units on sale have the exit at the lower edge . They may be out there but I can`t find them.

Ceramic Hob installation problem

My sparky would not connect my ceramic hob as the terminals are numbered 4 & 5 and not live & neutral . The make is Necht ( a re-badged asian product & not my choice it came as a complete package ). The model number is HBEO753DK , I can`t contact anyone for help; no after sales service. ...

Linseed oil or modern equivalent ?

Hi,
I`ve sanded my old oak floor ( it was layed in approx. 1900 ).
I`ve been told I need to use raw Linseed oil to bring the best out of the wood . Is this correct or should I use something else.
Thanks

This query is for a friend. He has moved to a bigger house which was recently profesionally re-wired ( bills & certificates etc. to prove). He has found that one Ring main feeds the front halve of the house (two bedrooms , study & lounge) & the second Ring main feeds the other halve (bac...

Cable `safe` Zones ?

This is part of a total re-wire to new 17th ed. regs. & everything with RCD protection. The sparky told me that he couldn`t take a horizontal run from one socket outlet to another ( only 18" apart ). He would take a vertical to the ceiling void go across then down to the finished socket pos...

My Vaillant `ecotec plus` condenser boiler is fitted with a syphonic trap ;the syphon collects the condensate to a quantity of about 200 ml & then directs the entire content to the drain pipe ( thus resulting in minimal freezing problems). For boilers with a normal condensate drain pipe :-- the ...

Fluroescent batten fitting LPF or HPF ?

LPF = low power factor ; HPF = high power factor.
The LPF fitting can take a 58W tube as can a HPF fitting.
What`s the difference between these two fittings as I want fittings with electronic ballast for the attic (no more twisting of starters).
Should I go LPF or HPF.
Thanks
