So the cove is on and you want to add to it? The existing cove already on can be cut with a Stanley blade and snapped off.

I'd say the same 4-6 year. You dont want moisture getting in to the wood, its like rust when it starts it just keeps getting worse. Best to keep on top of it especially with our harsh winters, Seen it all to often people just leave it till its too late then expect me to repair a fascia thats beyond ...

I have came accross this loads of times. Even my own house. I re-taped with fiber tape and applied the 3 coat system, turned out a treat. Easily painted over. It similar to gyproc. Defiantly nothing to worry about. If you really think you wont manage to make it look good do the 3 coat tape system an...

Your description is very vague, I would use fibre/scrim tape unless its an internal corner. 2/3 coats of filler sanding in between coats when dry.

Doesnt sound like a solvent based paint at all. Most oil based will be solid and crack, The flakes that come off are often very hard and spiky best description i have now  Sounds like silk when using a steam stripper on papered walls with silk they tend to turn in to a jelly like state.

There is no fix unless you re-do. But What colour is the paper some dark papers show the butts because the backing paper is white, I have had to use a marker on very dark papers on the butts before hanging while still rolled up, to hide them maybe this is why.

ironfan, Cut a cross in the blisters, apply wallpaper paste and stick the area down. end Using a clean/new blade, snap off blade. Dont lean to hard just enough pressure to cut the paper. if you know a diabetic get a needle with paste and inject paste into the paper be careful tho, only ever seen th...

Am with you there shedman, Stain block doesnt hold back flaking. surely it cant penetrate to the cause. Also how can you assure that water based eggshell will last a life time if its no longer than 10 new? I have never had a problem with dulux matt in my bathroom and its always very steamy when i go...

Agreed with the above on all points. Get the dampness sorted 1st. I would under coat the walls too if they are quite bad. Had to do a full room which had very bad dampness, Seals the walls and makes it easier to hang paper and strip in future.
