My advice would be. Never pay for any work up-front. I would NEVER ask only for materials which i would give a receipt for. And every other person i have worked with are the same. I agree with the above it is hard to tell a bad builder, I try to be fair on all my jobs but prices vary, Every job is d...

I always use or suggest dulux trade or gliddens both are ici. It doesnt matter who made the paint most durable paints have a large film thickness for for durability reasons adn being the case when you touch up you end up with a touch'd up area has a thicker film thickness. As i said above most paint...

You cant, Again this is called a flash where the paint dries differently. All silk, easy clean, eggshell, gloss so on paints flash when the paint dries out, basiclly you need to keep the wet edge going to keep it even. Only time i have been able to get it to blend slightly it thin the paint to almos...

Hi JRS, I don't know what you were saying about my reply. I thought that it answered the question or was I missing something. Ceiling white is what a lot of decorators used to call the old Distemper. I have often come across this even in 2 houses I have lived in and have found that the best way to ...

Hi koopah, where the paint is flaking is there a white or greyish looking paint under it and if so can you wash it off. If so it could be the old ceiling white which was used before emulsion and this often causes what you are describing. If it is this you will need to remove it all or this will kee...

I would say yes, or maybe just cut out the affected area. Gyproc is like a sponge, soaking in the water. If it was a small amount of water then wait till its dry and undercoat the water mark then repaint.

As above, its prob been that who ever painted it 1st never primed it or there is dampness there. scrape the flakes off and brush the area. Its a real pain in the neck when this happens .

That called a flash. What best to do is thin the paint slightly to make it easier to spread and you must paint 1 wall at a time as quick as you can keeping the wet edge going. if it starts to dry then you get flashes of over coating.

I wouldnt say so. I think it would be at least 2 coats of any paint if its dark. Most dark colours have a dye in them so it bleeds through expecially dark blue's. I would get a white to cover it 1st preferably full not thinned.

Re: Cracks

Hi, I need some help (Maybe a lot of help). I have recently decorated a room with a good quality undercoat/paint. In the corner of the room, there was substantial crack running down the wall which I refilled/sanded. I have done the same with the cracks running along the coving/ceiling. Unfortunatel...

Any pics mate. I find this hard to understand. was it a cheap paper you hung? Most durable paper wont rip unless there is a massive amount of movement behind the paper but you would feel the crack from above the paper.
