Re: How long for paint smell from Eggshell to disappear ?

1st thing i cant understand why he would want to eggshell your ceiling in the 1st place. Dampness is due to poor ventilation, 99% of the time. If it was me i would have advised you of this and told you to at least leave the vents on the windows open all the time. As for the eggsell. Well i would hav...

Re: training as a decorator

No course will make you a decorator or any other trade other than a full apprenticeship. Just my opinion. Its unfortunate that he will be losing his job but Passing himself as a qualified decorator isnt the way forward. If he wants to become his own boss and a pro decorator then hard work and a 4 ye...

Re: Duh I didn't use primer/undercoat

Satinwood is basicly 75% undercoat yes but a primer is still needed, But would be like going for a bath and trying to wash yourself with your clothes on priming after coating. There is nothing you can do now but i would expect it to flake in time.

Sand it down and apply paint? What ever you want to put on emulsion or what not, as long as its been sanded well i dont see a problem.

Personaly glossing mohog is totally wrong, Just a total waste of good wood. But strip it back to wood prime under coat and gloss.

Re: Hanging wallpaper on painted MDF?

You have walls made of MDF? try adding some PVA to it, a light scuff wouldnt do it any harm. ready mixed adhesive should work no problem, maybe your mix is too weak.

Re: Hanging lining paper

Use wall adhesive then its stonger, But i cant see why paste isnt strong enough unless you are making it too weak. A normal size bucket more than half full should be very thick and of a consistancy you will need.

Re: smooth paint for uneven walls

Dont think there is any paint capabile of filling holes, that i know of anyway. Matt is better for poor walls as it shows less defects unlike silk which shows every imperfection.
