Re: Painting Areas of High Condensation in a Bathroom - What is the Best Paint?

Hi there theshedman... Before applying the paint I did seal it, not with watered down emulsion but with a cheap normal emulsion from Crown. What would the best way be to remove the emulsion? proptech... The property is brick walls, tiled roof. Walls have cavity wall insulation and loft space is insu...

Painting Areas of High Condensation in a Bathroom - What is the Best Paint?

I painted my newly skimmed bathroom (the ceiling and wall furthest away from bath as all other walls were tiled) about 3 months ago using Dulux paint for Bathrooms. The bathroom is an area of high condensation (we keep the window and door open when showering and there is a fan right above the shower...

Re: Which Extractor Fan to Use to Stop Condensation?

I'm about have my bathroom re-decorated and need advice on which extractor fan to buy. There is one fitted at the moment but it's useless and situated in the wrong place. The bathroom suffers from very bad condensation which has led to mold on the tile grout so don't really want this to happen on ne...

Repairing small leak on felt roof

Hello We have a flat felt roof above our kitchen and last week after some torrential rain we got a couple of small wet patches on the kitchen ceiling. They have since dried even though we have had more rain. The roof is felt with a layer of gravel. It looks like it could be a few years old as the gr...

Damp in house survey

Have put an offer in on a property and just had the survey results back. There is quite a lot of mention about condensation and damp on the outer walls. It doesn't appear to be anything too serious (the bank have seen the survey and are still happy to lend us the money) but nevertheless it is mentio...

Cold water pipes knocking! Where to start?

Hello All of a sudden our cold water pipe makes a loud clunk noise when you turn the bathroom or kitchen cold tap on, or when the washing machine is on. The houses on either side of ours have both recently been gutted and renovated but I doubt this would effect our water pipes would it??? Can anyone...

replacing mouldy grout

Hello I want to re-grout a couple of small areas in my bathroom which have gone mouldy over time (they are right by the shower). What's the best way to start? Can I grout over the existing, or is it best to remove old grout and put new grout in? Have never done anything like this before so any tips ...

painting exterior doorstep tiles

I want to paint my tiled doorstep in brick red. I've looked in diy shops and can only find doorstep paint (which isn't suitable for tiles), and exterior brick & tile paint (which is not hard wearing enough for a doorstep). Can anyone suggest a suitable paint or method of how to get around this? ...

How to finish beading?

What is the best way to finish a strip of beading?

Some of the beading I'm laying finishes at door frames so I'm thinking instead of just cutting it straight down is there a neater more attractive way to finish the end?

levelling old fireplace

Have started to lay a laminate floor but have found that where there was once a fireplace there is now just a large rectangle of uneven concrete. Have chipped away most of the concrete so that now is is lower than the level of the floorboards. I need to fill the space with something to make it the s...

converting cellar

I want to paint/spruce up my cellar. I don't intend to use it as a room I could live in, more a room to store and also for my boyfriend to do his weights in. I've emptied it out and the majority of the wall space is slightly damp. What are the best steps to take? I was thinking... 1. wire brush the ...
