Wall Switch Powered Window Mounted Kitchen Extractor Fan

Hi, Is there such a thing as a window mounted kitchen extractor fan that can be operated by a wall switch as opposed to a pull chord? The position of our fan, high in an old sash window, makes it difficult to reach and use the pull chord effectively hence the question. Any help/suggestions much appr...

Thanks for the advice.

Now I know what I'm dealing with I'll contact the relevant people to do the work before the plastering starts.

The electrical conduit pipe can probably stay where it is but the old gas pipe is so rusty I think it has to go.

I have found 2 pipes buried in the plaster to the left side of our dining room chimney breast and I'm not sure what they are. The house is Edwardian.
