Re: Silicone won't stick to acrylic bath

If you have water pooling, are you sure you had put enough on in the first place ? Ideally you need an even beed of silicone that touches both the tile and the bath, without highs or lows ... easier said than done. When I get asked to do this job which is fairly often, I cut out all the old silicone...

Re: Silicone won't stick to acrylic bath

Sounds as though you are trying to apply new silicone over old. Silicone wont stick to silicone very well. Both the surfaces need to be really clean, and silicone free. Get some silicone eater, read the instructions before applying it. If the old silicone has been completely removed, their should'nt...

Re: Toilet Trouble

Sounds as though your cistern overflow shares the same waste pipe as your washing machine...
And you have a blocked waste pipe after the washing machine...
When the machine pumps the water away, it has nowhere to go other than back up the waste.

You need to unblock your waste pipe.!

Re: toilet not flusing properly

Have you checked that the flap is being lifted as much as possible, when the operating button is pressed..?
Some of them have a chain linking the flap to the button. The chain has to be fairly tight..!

Re: How to deal with straw board wall?

My bathroom walls are also made of straw/strammit board .. I had the same problem after a long term water penetration, over the top edge of the bath. I had quite a bit of black mold which I raked out. This left the straw loose and flakey. The area was dried out using a hair drier, then over a few da...

Re: Internal door lock piece broken

You have what is described as a..Brass..Oval ..Cylinder.. If the grub screw has snapped off in the spindle you would need to get a screw extractor to remove the remains of it from the spindle. By the time you buy an extractor, you may as well have bought a new cylinder. Depending on what level of se...

Re: back to wall toilet keep leaking water after flushing

The vast majority of cisterns have their backs to the wall ... post a picture of the inside of the cistern, this would help a lot .. !

Re: Door lock cylinder replacement

When I am not available and we are often asked to do exactly what you describe. We have to call a locksmith, and it normally costs around £120.00 When I am available... I would normally have a selection of Euro cylinders in my van. As a rule I would have the old cylinder out, and the new one fitted ...

Re: Mortice Latch not parallel

As the damage has already been done .... I would find a 25mm dowel (usually a wooden brush handle) that fits snuggly in the hole you have drilled. Place it all the way into the hole and mark it off with a spare bit stuck out of the edge of the door ( leave as much as you like stuck out). Remove the ...

Re: Wash basin stopper

Sounds as though your spring has gone in your pop up waste. There are loads of them available on ebay.
Make sure you get the one you need, some are slotted and some are not. There's also a clic clac version which has no spring to let you down...

You may well be trying to fit a 15mm olive to an old imperial pipe (which is slightly smaller than 15mm). This will not seal completely. Either get a 1/2" imperial olive to try on your old pipe, which can be compressed with your existing compression fitting .... or here's another other alternat...

Are you sure your tap is 3/4"..? I have had this problem twice this year. Customers are saying their 3/4" or 1/2" fitting does'nt fit the new tap they have had fitted. When I have gone to check (armed with a 3/4 and a 1/2 fitting), neither have fitted. That's because it was a 5/8"...
