If you had a damp report, get hold of the surveyor and discuss this with him/her. They should be able to elaborate, ask questions, surveyors are great but can be a little ignorant of the fact we don't know as much as them. I would avoid stabs in the dark on what to do, also you say you had a quote -...

Pay for an £80 survey, (you may need to shop around a bit). I know you don't want to - blah bah, dead money , etc, but trust me, you get this guy who comes around your house and if he has no intention of selling you repair work and is simply a surveyor - make sure of this. He is worth his weight in...

If you do not resolve your damp problem before you replaster you cannot complain if the problem re-occurs - which its bound to - unless the damp is not coming from where you believe it is. Plastering will not resolve the problem just look pretty for a few weeks. I am not up to speed on damp proofing...

You get mould in humid/wet environments - no where else. (Water is retained in warm air more than cold, so hot air is more humid) Bathrooms are notoriously humid, (obviously), because of the use of hot water in baths and showers, so better ventilation and extract will reduce your problem. Typically ...

BOLSTER / CHISEL POWER TOOL HIRE You can get a tool called a "bolster chisel", not sure if this is a real name or nickname, however you can hire them for small duty or heavy duty, usually about £15/day max. For plaster you need a light duty tool. When you hire them they come with a...

Foundation and a retaiining wall at bottom of garden...

Hi, Appreciate any help. My Garden slopes away at about 1:20 and leads into the rear neighbours house which is dropped down by about 12 feet. The garden is approx 5m wide. There is no retaining wall and earth and house rubble has just been dumped and piled high leading down to their garden from mine...
