HI
Have an oil fired heating system linked into an open fire back boiler. Can I change system from open vent to closed system? Many thanks.

Nearly forgot! Check cooker manual carefully for any mention of clearance distances. Generally you will find that a cooker needs clearance above, depending on what type of cooker it is as to how much clearance is required & it will only be around 5 - 10mm to the side.

If cooker can fit tight to back of wall then I assume the waste pipe is at low level & if that is the case then cooker will not be touching the waste pipe. I see no problem at all. Get on to Currys & tell them you want another fitter out to install cooker or they can have it back & you`l...

Yes, all heating circulators are adjustable. If your heating system is full of gunge it could do with being flushed out & a heating system cleanser added or something like a magnaclean (check out their website first). Both options will improve your boilers efficency.

Heating system probably needs to be balanced. Try turning down all the return valves, one at a time, till last rad gets hot. Only turn the valves slightly. If your`e not sure which are the returns make sure heating is on and feel both pipes going to the rad and the hottest one will be the flow. Hope...

hot water problem.

Just lately my cylinder is not giving me enough hot water to fill the bath. It doesn`t matter whether I use the boiler or immersion to heat the water. Cylinder is only 1 year old & I don`t live in a hard water area so no limescale build up. Any suggestions?

depends on length of pipe run & how many elbows. It`s better to bring the water supply to as near as possible to the shower in 22mm before reducing it to 15mm and use as few elbows as you can. Preferably use a pipe bender or one of the plastic pipes that are on the market ( acorn or one of those...
