This may seem a bit basic, but when I needed to do the same type of thing I used a suitable paving slab as the base, then when it came to making the balls, I used some old round glass lamp globes as moulds, and simply smashed them off when the concrete was set. Job done!

How do I level up a summerhouse.

I intend to build a summerhouse, with the base raised in a series of sawn-up telegraph poles about 2' in the ground and 2' out. How can I ensure that they are all the same height, as the area is really too big to successfully check one to the next with a level.

these doors look solid, but they are not. You can trim the height by two inches as the thickness of the frame is much thicker there, but the side edges are very thin, which is why you can't take off much more than 5mm.

Many thanks for your concern - probably didn't make myself clear. The steel would be loadbearing, the columns decorative to conceal the steel. Does this make a difference to anybody being able to help?

Making concrete pillars or columns using DIY moulds

I have a reasonable knowledge of DIY in all areas, but this one's got me beat! I am looking to make, in sections, six concrete pillars or columns approx 200cms tall. These need to be loadbearing, so will need to be hollow to take the necessary steel reinforcing. I know little about mould work, so an...
