I am thinking of doing something similar and was looking at the room dividers in B&Q. Although they are only 8' wide, maybe these would be OK for your project?

I use the £1500/m2 figure as a rule of thumb, but if you self build you probably could come down quite a lot from this figure.

I have a similar situaton with our kitchen extension although the flat roof is covering the top of the cavity. I believe the normal way to fill cavities is by pumping in foam or strands of mineral wool, so your best bet may be to contact one of the companies who do that. I think the risk of dampness...

Damian,

I have a very similar sounding situation with regard to a chimney I would like to cap. Did you follow the advice and did you get a satisfactory outcome? Would you recommend doing the same thing again?
