Timber Panels - Housewrap question

I've built a few timber frame panels today, including OSB sheathing. I had a delivery of 'housewrap', but it didnt have any branding/logos on it, and i'm a little unsure what side faces out? Theres a shiny side, and one side has a kind of raised pattern on it. I know it's important to get it right. ...

Building Timber Frame Panels

I'm about to start building a timber frame toilet/shower building. I've got all the treated timber and OSB, and will be building the 10 timber frame panels needed in a barn, in fairly controlled conditions. I've ordered my breather membrane 'housewrap'. My concern is where to overlap the wrap? I kno...

Timber Framed Campsite Shower Block - Treated or Untreated?

Hi, I'm about to start building a timber frame toilet/shower block on my campsite. All the groundworks have been completed and the base is 200mm above ground level. The inside of the building will be well ventilated, but I'm unsure whether to use treated or untreated 2 by 4 inch timber. If I use tre...

Concrete Slab with footings advice needed please

I'm preparing ground for concrete slab. I've now dug my slab area (10m x 6m), and 225mm deep footings around the perimeter and up the centre as recommended by structural engineer (where timber frame panels will be). I've started to lay my sub-base (803), next will be a layer of sand. After this i pl...

Re: Dwarf Wall? Or fix Sole plate straight to concrete slab

Thanks again. Could i not use treated timber for the soleplate? I thought i could lay the slab, fold the DPM over, DPC and then fix a treated timber soleplate down. I could then attach my untreated timber frame panel on this? Effectively, a double sole plate, but makes life easier when fixing heavey...

Re: Dwarf Wall? Or fix Sole plate straight to concrete slab

Thanks very much for the info Welsh Brickie, much appreciated. If i did that, what would happen when i fixed the soleplate to the concrete slab? Would the anchors not pierce the DPM & DPC? What's your thoughts on this? If i placed the timber frame on the slab with a DPC inbetween and then ran th...

Dwarf Wall? Or fix Sole plate straight to concrete slab?

I'm about to construct a timber frame building 10m X 6m. It's going to go on a concrete slab of the same size. Obviously, once the cladding goes on, the building will be a tad larger than the slab. A few people have recomended laying a single course of engineered bricks on the slab, and then place t...
