diverter valve/microswitches most commonly,possibly the domestic heat exchanger could alos be blocked allowing water round the rads ,but more than likely the microswitch/diverter valve

sounds strange,a bronze pump is yellow/gold in colour and delivers instan t water in houses with long water runs ,so idont think its that but from what you describe it sounds like someone has wired a switch onto a normal circulating pump,not heard of this before you sure that it boosts you h/water f...

you should be able to isolate the hot water as it enters the combi,then open your hot taps to confirm isolation

Sorry to say you should get a corgi out for this as you want the supply removed from sight and i would not reccommend diy for this as the capping off needs to be tested to confirm the supply /cap is sound.

if it were that easy i would not have to retake my corgi certification every 5 years! you need to make sure that the chimney is suitable for the fire, that you have the correct volume in the builders opening(doesnt mean his builders bum!) does your new fire require ventilation as many new DFE fires ...

if you go for push fit buy yourself the correct cutter this will cut the pipe clean,square and with no internal burr, i have just been converted to plastic and in some instances its quiker and easier for a diy'er however you must not connect up to the boiler in plastic allow at least a metre of copp...

tricky,i would think that if you had the service kit fitted this would be for no hot water and he would have replaced the diaphragm,so smart money would be the diverter valve letting by which means a new valve about 100 quid for the valve alone,or i have come across the domestic heat exchanger block...
