Sounds like the one pipe system has not been modified correctly for the new location, prob more of a tiler than a plumber.
Out of interest as british gas are the experts, what did they recomend as a remedy and how much did they quote?

Is the boiler firing?
Is there a supply to the gas valve?
What type of zone valve and programmer/roomstat do you have and are they calling for heat?

Not enough technical info to advise any more.

Reading between the lines you need a three port valve or at least the head if its motoring but not switching.

You wont get a reading of continuity throught the coil, but you will get a resistance reading on the Ohms scale. I am not familiar with the baxi 572 do you mean 552?

Its probably your Inlet Ball Valve in your Cystern for the toilet, replace it and I would put money on it that the nosie will go away.
