thanks guys ... i will put it straight back to normal would i be right in thinking the risk is associated with the fact that a mechanical valve could sieze up ? (causing the system to pressurise) anyway ... just so i don't do anything stupid again, would i be correct in saying that i should introduc...

think i've done it but not in a conventional way ... firstly i dropped the vent into the expansion tank, below the water level. This solved the air problem, pump speed increased ... all the rads nice and hot. but ... water was drawn out of the tank, through the vent, and replenished up from the syst...

the system is configured as you describe ... would it be better if the vent pipe was on the discharge side of the pump ? or would this result in water being pumped through the vent line ... with it being a "circulating pump" i guess anywhere on the circuit is on the discharge/suction side ...

hoping you may be able to help me with a problem on my vented heating system ... to cut a long story short i have relocated my hot water cylinder and pump in the attic (to liberate space on the landing ... airing cupboard) in order to do this I have lifted both the storage tank and the central heati...

mmm ... worried me a bit ...

think i'll change the fitting, a pain yes, but a couple of hours and peace of mind

dread the thought of having to go back once all the decor etc is done ...

(probably leave a trapdoor as well !!)

after much struggling this job is now done ... works OK, notably more pressure at the gravity fed shower. bit of a nightmare with refilling the system and getting all the air out ... was only able move it by blowing back down the vent pipe. just one concern that some may be able to help with ... whi...

i did look into this (megaflow) but i don't think it would work ... the megaflow requires 20 l/min and a minimum of 1.5 bar pressure i guess these are minimum values but the guy from megaflow (technical advice) thought it was highly unlikely that my system would achieve them my mains inlet is reduce...

actually ... whilst i think about it and before i spend my hard earned cash i am planning on buying a new cold water storage tank and was going to get the 50 gallon one from screwfix (coffin style) ... will this be enough for 5 adults ? also ... should i use this opportunity to invest in a new hot c...

relocating hot water cylinder in the attic

i am considering moving my hot water cylinder from the airing cupboard on the landing to the attic. to maintain a pressure differential between the cold and hot i will raise the cold water storage by 1.5m my thinking is that ... it doesnt matter how big the difference is between cold storage and hot...

moving hot water cylinder to loft ?

i think i should be ok ... but its good to be reassured (or not) by the experts ... i want to relocate my hot water cylinder to the loft ... creating some space on the landing i am ok with all the physical plumbing etc but want to be confident i will still have flow/pressure etc with the hot water m...
