Half way installing my en suite to the front bedroom and some one told the drain to the front of me house might be a soakaway and not a foul water drian which i originally thougt it was. It got a gulley and the water 'soaks' away slowy. Would all victorian homes in handsworth have soakaways? And if ...

Im have trouble locating the water main that comes in from the road. We have dug down about five foot in the garden where we think it is and still cant see anything. I'm currently trying to install a en-suite bathroom to my front bedroom. I was going along nicely until someone mentioned that i cannot run a soil pipe to the front of me house because of 1988 building regulation. The house is a victorian property in birmingham.
