Help with range cooker please

My new dual fuel range cooker is tripping the RCD when I turn any of the ovens on. Its not tripping the MCB. Previously there's been a gas oven in its place, so there has never been any appliance connected to this circuit. The techy bits I can tell you are.... Its a 32amp MCB. 6mm cable to the cooke...

If its faulty, take it back to where you bought it for a swop. It will be under 12 months warranty

warmfront £300 rebate scheme

We're getting quite a few people enquire about this grant, but don't know much about it. I know what the offer is but the money comes out of my pocket first, then it seems you have to claim it back. Is it worth looking at or is it a rip off for the installer

Monitoring electric usage

Don't know if this is the right forum for this question but here goes. A friend is using my garage, for up to 12 months, to store and use his hobby engineering workshop. This, I haven't a problem with, as long as he pays for his power usage. Is there any way of monitoring his usage, so that he pays ...

Totally agree with both points of view. I've always thought a couple of registration bodies was a good idea, not a monopoly. It seems to work for electricians.
Was just wondering if any of you was considering renewing your membership of Corgi, in April?

Polishing scratches out

Hi, is there a way of polishing scratches out of toughened glass. I've seen some secondhand glass shelves-10mm thick, but are scratched in places where objects have been. The glass is cheap enough for a job I have in mind for my house but not suitable if its all scratched. Any ideas would be appreci...

Up dating a consumer unit

I have a wylex 10 way split load consumer unit, with the sockets protected by a 80A 30mA rcd. If I wanted to up date the lighting circuit side, would it be possible to add another rcd ,which matches the other one or do I change each 6A mcb with a 6A RCBO. If I need to change to RCBO's which part num...

No more corgi!!

As from April 1st 2009 it looks like Corgi are no more. Capita Group won the rights to run the 'gas scheme'! and will take over from them. Personally I would prefer both running schemes, then I could have a choice who I would become a member of ( like the electricians have)

Thanks again ericmark. There are 2 extractor fans, which get their power from the lighting circuit. These can be isolated by separate FCU's and both are turned off. Would it be better to take all light bulbs out and test again. Don't know if it was meg ohms or ohms(can you explain in more detail why...
