Ajax, Cement board is grey in colour on both sides, its comes in 12mm x 1200mm x 1600mm or something like that and it stinks  It wont stink up all of your bathroom, but if you smell it close you will see it has this specific smell, because of cement? not sure. You should find it in Wickes where...

You can do anything you want, its your tiles, its your house [i gues], but remember this: Travertine is a stone and any tiler will tell you that stone tiles will never be prefectly cut. If you go ahead and tile with no gaps, i can promise you will have some gaps anyways, cos stone tiles are not 100%...

As far as i understand, your bathroom has 18mm chipboard laid already? Why would you want to lay ply on top? To water proof it and to reinforce the floor i think there is nothing better than "cementboard" from Wickes [its very cheap], just screw sheets directly onto chipboard and tile away!

Like gam said you need separate tile adhesive and grout.
Your tile adhesive must be flexible too, not just grout if you dont want to redo everything in couple months.

No, dont tile directly over chipboard, if you ever had even small leak you will have trouble. Get some sort of floor water proofing stuff, just ask in your local DIY store its quite a choice these days. I used "cementboard" from Wickes. "Cementboard" reinforced my floor, stoped m...

My advise would be not to tile around skirting boards, it just looks cheap & awefull to be honest. If i was you i would remove all skirting boards, and when you reach door frame just cut the mouldings at the bottom of the door to allow tile to slide under and it will be much easier to cut tile a...

Re: Best surface to install large travertine wall tiles
I'm foolishly planning to self install 60 by 40 mm travertine tiles on wall as a bath surround. The existing tiles are sound but not too flat. I think my two options are hacking off the tiles and replastering or dryline with backerboard/aquapanel or ply. Any advice would be a...
