Re: Which Professional do I Need Advice From for Neighbours Kitchen Extension

Thanks Stoneyboy

Sorry took so long to reply - been away for a bit. I've got an appointment to go and see someone at the local council to discuss this so hopefully will be able to get it under control shortly! Thanks for your advice
cheers

Which Professional do I Need Advice From for Neighbours Kitchen Extension

I have a fairly old ground floor kitchen extension at the back of the house. My neighbour wishes to build a similar extension and wants to use the adjoining side wall of my extension as part of this work. He has vaguely mentioned: "It (the shared wall) will be one side of the new roof support&q...

New Conversion Fully Plastered and how Long Before Decorating?

My loft is newly converted and today was completely plastered - bedroom and bathroom, and external and internal walls around new staircase. I was informed that I should wait for four weeks before decorating to allow the plaster to dry and "settle". Is this right? And can I accelerate the p...

External Bricks Discoloured and Damp Inside in Kitchen Extension

I have damp/mould appearing at three locations in a kitchen extension (all around 9/12 inches up the wall) and on the outside wall, the brickwork is lighter than elsewhere - red brick that looks greyer/dusty in appearance. I'm assuming that damp is getting through at these points, and my question is...

How to Organise a Room and Floor Refurb With Minimum Mess?

My front room is tired and needs refreshing. My plan is: Remove horrible old carpet and sand/fill/varnish floorboards ( which seem to be in quite good nick) Strip woodchip wallpaper Smooth walls and either paint or re-paper Re-paint ceiling My first question is where should I start? Is it better to ...

Double Glazing locking mechanism failed - replavce unit?

All three opening windows in my bedroom glazing unit are unusable. All operate partially, in that one end of the window moves, but the other seems to remain locked. Two windows are hung vertically, and in both cases it is the mechanism at the top of the window which does not seem to unlock properly....

LOL !! Thanks Sparx - glad to see I brought a small measure of enjoyment to your evening - tho' probably less than the pub visit did! I'll rearrange the wires as per your suggestion and see if I can bring light to the huddled masses in my kitchen! If I'm successful I'll post a note - if I'm not, wel...

3 way dimmer wiring issue

I have a dimmer box with THREE dimmers on it. I have to replace the dimmer units, and rewire. Each unit has wire points labelled L1, L2 and C for wires. I have FOUR black wires coming into the box from the wall. I have TWO wires which linked the dimmer units together. In the original configuration, ...

Thanks Sparx, that's just what I was looking for! I'll check before I get any more pro's in that they can bring one of these - or I'll just check out the cost and get one myself. Been troubled why this happened to be honest - it was working when I walked out, and had broken when I got back an hour l...

tracing a ring main break

My plug socket ring main recently failed. I got in a professional, who was able to isolate the break to between two sockets, and has "terminated" each leg, to give me power back in 90% of the house. Now I need to complete the fix, and I'm really worried about tearing up the house to find o...
