Pvcu installation section

Hi folks,

I'm trying to put together a design idea for college but I need a detailed section drawing of an installed pvc window that shows the cavity, dpc, head, cill etc etc. Does anyone have one as I can't seem to find anything on the net.

Cheers in advance guys.

Compression fittings on 8mm gas pipe?

Hey, I took some skirting board off last night in my front room to find an 8mm gas pipe. The pipe was obviously intended for the front fire but what concerned me most is that it had an isloation valve and then a blanking cap both of which were compression fittings. Is compression fitting on gas allo...

Cheers Eric, That info will indeed be useful in my master plan. The total length will be 2f up the side of the chimney breast, 1,5f across and 2f across the front. I'll have a look at metal trunking and see if I can swap. As for separating the cables. Thats a good point you've got. I'll have to figu...

WALL MOUNT TV CABLES

Hi guys, My plan at the moment is to mount my tv over my now redundant fire place. With repsect to cables I have run a channel up the side of the chimney breast and across the side and front to behind my new tv. My plan is to then flush fit plastic trunking in the channel and then wallpaper over the...

The wires I'm talking about are the ones coming into the master socket and then the ones running around the house.

Makes sense what you said.

Telephone cable

Hi Guys,

I've got some 6 core telephone cable at home and I know that you only need three of them to use broadband and a telephone. The ones I am using at the moment are: :?

Blue = 2
Orange = 3
White/Blue = 5

Does anyone know what the other three cables and connections are actually for?

Cheers Rich, I did that on saturday. Whether that will solve the problem remains to be seen. Your Bitumen idea has occurd to me but at the moment I wonder whether sealing this section of the wall will give the water nowhere to go and also possibly make the wall sweat. It would be good if I could pai...

Perished DPC!

Bear with me on this please. I have a victorian 1910 mid terrace and last night stripped the wallpaper off in the front room. Behind I found what look like two damp patches. The front room has a floating floor of which I can get under and after a quick inspection it looks like the DPC has gone ie yo...

Plasma over a fire?

I really like the idea of mounting my new 46" plasma over my fire place but wonder if I will still be able to use the fire afterwards. Does anyone know if this can be done? I am looking to possibly replace the fire and don't know if there are any newer models that would help. Any advice would b...

Which Soldering torch?

Hi guys,

Can anyone recommend a good soldering torch. Its going to be used for DIY at home so I don't necessarily need a professional one but at the same time I don't like cheap junk when it comes to tools.

Cheers in advance.

Loft Warm Roof

Hi Guys, Buildings regs talks about the need for ventilation between your roof tiles and your insulation (50mm). My roof at the moment does not appear to have any ventilation gaps at both soffit level and ridge level. Does anyone know how a warm roof works as the diagrams suggest that you don't need...

Fire rating mesh in new loft floor

Hi guys,

According to building regs, before you place the insulation between new loft joists your supposed to place wire mesh down. Does anyone know what type of mesh your supposed to use. hole size, guage etc?

Cheers in advance guys
