Which Wire Is Which???? HELP PLEASE

i am currently replacing my socket fronts throughout my house, i have come to change the switch front for a storage heater, the trouble is the wires are not red and black, there is a brown wire, a green wire and a green & yellow banded wire from the storage heater (i presume the grean and yellow...

Hi Sparx, Thank you for your reply, the wires coming from the storage heater are as follows, i have a Brown Wire i have a green wire i have a green & yellow wire would i be correct in thinking that the brown is live, the green is negative and the green & yellow is the earth?? thanks john
