The main problem is training costs are too high. On gas, the courses and tests are about £2000. You have retest and up date very 3 years and that’s another £1000 And that’s after you have competed the city and guilds training program. (4 years costing £5000) All plumbers get stuck on training...

Well I look at both of them and they seem ok. The Alpha’s are only not on our company parts lists and there must be a reason we don’t keep parts for them in the vans. What I can say is that the power and cost is about the same. I am not happy about the 2-year guarantee on the vaillant. And there...

You sound like my wife and I am telling you what I told her. Right it’s not the cylinder or the thermostat, its you! There about 115 litres of hot water in that cylinder and once you have used it up, it takes about 3 hours for it to heat up again from the boiler. If you have an electric immersion ...

A one pipe heating system, means there is only one pipe. Most have 2 pipes, one for feeding the radiators the other for used water. On a 1 pipe system, the heated water go thru the first radiator and then back into the same pipe, by the time the water reaches the last radiator in you home, the water...

The simple answer is you boiler will last for 20 years if you Get it serviced once a year Have water softer (not a scale inhibitor or digital scale reducer) And have the right boiler to start with. Your heating system will need some upgrading, but not all of it. You can just replace the boiler. Most...

I think oil is not the way to go with this. The running costs are only going to rise with time and the heating may become unaffordable. Oil heating systems use to be cheap to run but with oil reaching $100 a barrel, most people using them are asking for replacement systems. From Jan 08 has a company...

I don’t do under floor heating, we have a team who deal with this on our company and I did ask them about this.

They’re saying it should be ok with 1 manifold, but you many get slow heating of the space.

2 manifolds would be better, but is not necessary.

I like the baxi platinum range of boilers; there one of the better’s type of boiler to install. The size depends on how big your home is and how much hot waters you need. Make sure you installer takes the time to size it and tell him about your plans for the house. If you were thinking about addin...

Yes the tap should work ok, it will do its job.

You could have any combination of taps and mixers on the same hot and cold feeds.

But next time don't be so lazzy. Take the old one off.

Its not that hard with the right tools.

We have to do it all the time.

Its sounds like you have a combination storage water heater. There are better and small hot water systems around now. If you only have 2 bedrooms, your hot water requirements will be low. I would say, that if you have an electric shower and don’t use a bath, a small un-vented water heater would do...

I did see this last nite but it was late. Ok if it’s a secondary ventilated system, the vent pipe is not 4 inches/ 110mm. They’re normally smaller and about 2-3 inch pipes, only time they would be bigger is when they have use 6-inch/150mm soil stack. If it is a vent stack, you can’t add anythi...

Well if it’s in the loft, you could just cut the soil stack at the right place and put a 110-flexi coupling and then use plastic 110 waste pipe for the toilet in the normal way.

Then add an air admitter’s valve on pipe.

I think your trv has gone and is jammed open. (The gel has gone in the head).

Close the lock shield and leave it for a while to see if it’s cooled down.

Make sure its not duel fuel.
