I've had to agree to assume the reference methods always going on the side of caution ie max insulation. Not that happy about it.can anyone point me in the direction of any niceic material on this subject?

Condition reports

Can one just take there best guess at a reference method on a condition report, assume worst case senario or leave it blank? After all one is signing to say cables within the fabric of the building have not been inspected.

Get it back with one of them telescopic magnets from the pound shop. maybe you'll see where it went with a small torch and mirror? or stick a camera phone up the hole and take a few photos, see if you can locate it? is it impossable to lift a floorboard and have a look? just a few ideas. might help,...

pump runs ok and it's the hot water side playing up too. decided to scrap it and get a golw worm. lets hope i have more luck with that.

My combi boiler sparks up burns for a short while and goes out. Hot water and central heating. Fan is running and clean. flu is clear. changed the venturis, changed the air prussure switch, changed pcb. changed overheat stat, changed the thermistors. Nobody can fix it. any ideas?

thought I'd jump on this thread as it's kind of relevant, rather than start a new one. What do you electricians do who work for yourselves when a customer wants a fuse box changed to a 17th edition board, but don't want to upgrade to 10mm bonds? To turn work down seems stupid, when no bonds 4mm bond...

if the zs is fine i would suggest it's your leads or test equipment. are the leads in good condition? are they nulled? is the test equipment calibrated? are you making a good connection with what you are testing?

there is an in and an out. the in coming from the fuse board, the out going to the shower. you have them the wrong way.

very wrong and very dangerous. It could be very simple to fix, or it could be more complex, either way you'll need an electrician with a set of test equipment.

this is completely normal. earth and neutral are connected together at the suppliers end, and in many systems earth and neutral are combined up until the suppliers cut out in the property. get a pro in for any electrical additions or alterations in your kitchen.
