Turn two light switches into one

I have a utility room which has a light switch (call it light switch 1) for the ceiling lights. I have just extended the utility and in the extension the ceiling lights (which are not the same lights) are controlled by a separate switch (call it light switch 2). Both light switches are on the same b...

Is this wiring acceptable?

I had issues embedding the image, so it is here: m The switched fuse is 13A. I thought this would work as you are not able to take two spurs off of one socket, so can I spur a switched fuse then have that feed two separate sockets? If it matters neither will have anything that’s high load (radio, la...

If you can afford it fit a tumble dryer too - that'll stop them drying clothes which will greatly intensify the problem.

Re: Removing a light switch extension (with pics!)

So just open the sealed earth and attach the new switch to that or is it more complex?

Why are replies always vetted? It's a real pain posting a reply and it doesn't appear for ages

Re: Removing a light switch extension (with pics!)

Hi themoffster Connect the switch to the two reds, it doesn't matter which way round, But, from your photo it looks like the switch has a metal face plate, if so, it must be earthed, or fit a plastic one. Thanks, that's pretty much what i was going to do. In terms of the earth - in the first set of...

Removing a light switch extension (with pics!)

I have a door in my house that had the handedness changed by the previous owner. I am in the process of changing it back, but they had to move the position of the lightswitch when doing so. They did this by adding a connector and running a cord around the frame of the door into the new lightswitch (...

Re: Getting sky tv in 2nd room

To share the same sky box on two tvs, you need to use coax cables. Connect port RF2 on the sky box to the coax port on the tv. In terms of being able to change the channel you have two options - a magic eye or if the sky box is connected to the house Internet, you could use an iphone/iPad/iPod touch...

No there isn't. It's a digital signal not analogue, so all this "better signal" stuff is nonsense.

Re: 3 point door locking system jammed

With the door open are you able to move the handle all the way up? If so the problem will be with the latches not fitting into keeps and that most likely means the door has dropped. If the handle doesn't go all the way up when the door is open, it sounds like the mechanism so try WD40 or something. ...

Do you have enough free space on the drive?
Defragging requires a certain amount of space before it can run

Re: upvc door lock problem

Locksmiths will cost you a lot of money, but will be able to do it.
Before you phone anyone, look on youtube for how to replace the locking mechanism - it's really easy and it will save you about £150 - £200.

Re: Hinges for garden swing seat

Your best bet is to go to your local ironmongers and ask them.
If they don't have it, they may be able to order it or may be able to get you a similar replacement

Re: Door lock cylinder replacement

They are absolute robbers. I had them out to do the same in my house (before I actually looked into what was required) and it was £100. In future, open the door look at it side on - just under the part that goes in and out when you press the handle down, you'll see a single screw that doesn't look l...
