If you can afford it fit a tumble dryer too - that'll stop them drying clothes which will greatly intensify the problem.

So just open the sealed earth and attach the new switch to that or is it more complex?

Hi themoffster Connect the switch to the two reds, it doesn't matter which way round, But, from your photo it looks like the switch has a metal face plate, if so, it must be earthed, or fit a plastic one. With the door open are you able to move the handle all the way up? If so the problem will be with the latches not fitting into keeps and that most likely means the door has dropped. If the handle doesn't go all the way up when the door is open, it sounds like the mechanism so try WD40 or something. ...

Locksmiths will cost you a lot of money, but will be able to do it.
Before you phone anyone, look on youtube for how to replace the locking mechanism - it's really easy and it will save you about £150 - £200.

Your best bet is to go to your local ironmongers and ask them.
If they don't have it, they may be able to order it or may be able to get you a similar replacement

They are absolute robbers. I had them out to do the same in my house (before I actually looked into what was required) and it was £100. In future, open the door look at it side on - just under the part that goes in and out when you press the handle down, you'll see a single screw that doesn't look l...
