Re: Party Wall Damp Issue What Could be the Cause?

If there are any drainpipes on the outside wall check there are no leaks, and if they are cast iron also check for cracks.
An easy tell tale sign is if there is a buildup of lichen/moss on the wall around where the pipe is.
The fix for this is replace the pipe work or fix any loose joints.

Re: condensation on glass-covered water well

Why not lay a soil warming cable around the edge of the glass so the glass sits on it, cushion it with either a bed of mortar or better still silicone. This will then heat the glass stopping the condensation forming and not only is the cable water proof it is also very economical to run especially i...

Re: Window Frame Help

Re: Rammed Earth (cob/adobe) Floor Replacement?

I was leaning towards doing that, the only question being how would the extra weight on the ground effect the foundations if at all? Also would it be a good idea to put a few piles into the ground before the slab is laid, easy to do as I already own an earth auger with 4" and 6" auger bits...

Rammed Earth (cob/adobe) Floor Replacement?

Hi

I own a house in Bulgaria that has a rammed earth floor in two of the rooms, they are not in great condition so I would like to replace them.
Question is with what? Do I excavate and replace with concrete slab or do I fit a suspended wooden floor or somehow tile the existing floor?

Thanks Chris
