Re: Design Ideas Needed to Decorate Alcove Walls

I think the wallpaper example in the third picture makes it feel too busy. I like the idea of the wallpaper being purely in the alcove, it’s a nice way to pull the wall together!

With KaPi on this – light grey! Or even a cream colour would be nice, but it would be good to stick to one colour and incorporate different shades from that palette.

Re: Question About Painting a Bedside Table

Have you managed to get it painted yet? Bit late to this one, I can't find on the website what it's made of?

Re: Help Needed Identifying Parts of Flat Pack Furniture Set

Those look exactly like the parts that came with an IKEA set of drawers I put together when we moved in, it might be a little more expensive to go to them direct but at least you'll know they're the right ones.

Re: Wall Surface Suitable for Easily Hanging Pictures

I've witnessed my husband break a few nails on a couple of DIY projects using MDF.

Have you had a look at those really strong, sticky strips that you attach the back of the picture? They're really subtle but I guess it depends, how heavy is your frame?

Re: Opinions of Web Sites Offering Good Tradesmen?

Has anyone ever used rated people? I'm looking to renovate in the future, have had one or two bad experiences with cowboy builders! Nothing major, but one or two shoddy plastering jobs and misaligned tiles. Like you have said, the best workmen get heard of through word of mouth - but they're usually...

Re: Living Room Interior and Decorating Help - Wallpaper or Paint?

Hi Rapidrat, Unfortunately I couldn't see the pictures of the room, but I had a similar sized room which I struggled to decorate for a while! I used a really subtle feature wall using a Designer's Guild damask wallpaper (from a site called fabricsandpapers.com - m). I used the Contarini pattern in a...

Wow I have never even given that a thought! I can't give any insight but I would be very keen to hear how it goes if you do go ahead with it!

Re: Is There Anyone That Upcycles or is Thinking About Upcycling?

I love upcycling. I'm sure most will tell you it's for the cost savings and doing their bit for the environment BUT for me it's all about using things ni new ways and creating totally unique furnishings for your home. In a world dominated by cheap and cheerful Ikea furniture I love having gear that'...

Re: No power to quite old AEG washing machine

I actually had exactly the same problem with my old AEG machine. In the end I just had to get rid of it and I'll certainly not be buying AEG again!

I know this probably doesn't help you but I just thought I'd let you know you're not alone!
