Storage tank in loft query

We have moved to a property that has had a loft conversion. The cold water storage tank looks to be very high to the pitched roof in the part of the loft not converted. Is it legal to not have much room above the tank? Also we think there is a rising main to the loft area which has been threaded up ...

Fitting Bath Mixer Taps and is the Gasket Essential?

We have a new bath/tap fix in progress. The mixer taps with shower attachment are Bristan & came with a fat black gasket to cushion/seal to the bath. Trouble is it is not a precise fit to the body profile, so after a while there will be a build up of limescale around it. It is also too thick to ...

Re: Refitting Bathroom Tile on top of Existing Tiles Query

As a postscript, not one person has posted a reply. Contrary to all that I had researched the weight bearing of plasterboard is reduced to 20k if skimmed (it is) and further if already tiled, clearly is. There fore my plasterboard walls would no way hold a further layer of tiles as large as these. S...

Queries about Installing new Shower Flange and Pipe Pumped by Monsoon Universal

Gentlemen, We are installing a thermostatic mixer which will be pumped with a monsoon universal. We have negative head. 2 questions. The HW cylinder is old but perfectly sound. We decided on an ******* flange for positional reasons. Plus no need to have to rejig the existing HW feed from the top. We...

Hole for Cistern Push Button for Roper and Rhodes Pan and Concealed Cistern

We have bought a Roper Rhodes pan and concealed cistern. The bathroom is in a loft conversion. The cistern is therefore behind a wall in the loft are not a mdf box. Wall in bathroom tiled. Instructions, cut a 63mm hole for the push button. OK, try finding a hole saw that will cut tiles at that diame...

Refitting Bathroom Tile on top of Existing Tiles Query

We are refitting our bathroom. This was part of a 1982 loft conversion. The walls are 4 x 2 stud work with plasterboard which has been skimmed. The original 8"x 6" 4mm tiles are stuck fast, sound & level. Sorry about mixing imperial and metric. We intend to create a shower cubicle (pre...
