Re: Wall fan not Working With Added Indicator Light

Hi Mr White.
Thanks very much for that. I'll rewire it in the way you suggested. Or get a separate switch. Thanks again.

Frostproofing Additives for Cement Mixes for Building Garden Wall

Hi, I'm building a garden wall using concrete blocks with mortar. The only additive I'm using is Febmix, but I've heard that there are more effective frostproofing agents I can use. The forecast for the next few days where I live, in Wales, if for just above freezing at night. I understand that mort...

Re: Retaining Garden Wall help

Hi welsh brickie. Thanks for your reply. The wall will be two single skins of hollow block, therefore about 20 inches ( 500mm) wide. I'll be using rebars and I'm wondering whether the foundation should be about a foot ( 300mm) thick. As for foundation depth, I was wondering whether a raised bed in f...

Authoritative Advice on how Thick to Make Garden Retaining Wall Foundation

Hi everyone. I need to decide how thick to make my garden retaining wall foundation. My difficulty is that when I look on the web, ask questions in web forums, ask people I know, or read books I find that there is no consensus on foundation thickness other than that 6" is a minimum. One person ...

Re: Believing What a Builder Says about Laying Foundations for Retaining Wall

Thanks to the doctor. You've confirmed my suspicions, as also about much else that he's advised me to do. I'll build that boundary wall you mentioned, between him and me, but I shan't ask his advice as to how to do it. Thanks again.

Believing What a Builder Says about Laying Foundations for Retaining Wall

Hi everyone. I'm building a high retaining wall on clay soil, so I need to make strong foundations. I've read up on it, but also I've consulted a neighbour who is a retired builder.. My problem is that his advice seems to be based on his cutting corners when he was in the trade. For instance, he say...

Drainage Under Patio Built on Steep and Terraced Garden

Hi everyone. My bungalow is at the bottom of a steep garden with a steep hill beyond it. I have terraced the garden and have now had earth removers in to clear a space for a patio at the bottom of the garden, the patio being at the same level as the path around the bungalow. About 100 cubic metres o...
