It is possible that this pipe was used to supply air to fire. This was a common enough practice in certain areas. You could trace route of pipe with electronic equipment. (Tool hire)

Hozelock fitting is not your best option. Get a washing machine y connector. Most plumbing supply shops will stock them. .hozelock fittings should only be used for external use

Hi Diana if the pointing on the stonework is good you could consider spraying with a clear sealer. These sealers do not change the appearance of the stone and i find that they do work, in my opinion it is important to only use these sealers when the wall is as dry as possible.(after a prolonged dry ...

Hi again I have seen damp spotting similar to this, but only on a chimney breast caused by water entering chimey stack at high level and seeping down through loose fill and coming out through the breast. It is possible that you could have the same happen in a rubble stone wall but unlikey in a cavit...

Hi Helen just a few questions first. Where is the wall of extension in relation to this damp spot. Would it be directly behind it. Is the external wall of the extension rendered. Is there guttering on both your extension and your neighbours. What type roof is on the extension.

Hi I am not familiar with this particular brand of vent , but i think they should be adjustable. Would it be possible that there is a part of grill missing from external side. You could email the manufacturer directly for advice.

Hi James the water you see when looking down through the grate is the water trap to stop odours, it does not tell that you have a leak or not. Fix the seal and let wall dry out.You can speed this up with a dehumidifier if needed, then run some water and hopefully all will be well.

Hi you would need to know manafacturer name to buy online. Go to plumbing store they may be able to help. If you cannot find correct washer you may have to change inlet float.

Hi I am afraid it is not pssible to know the cause of damp from a photograph.It would help to know the construction of the wall . Would there be a chimney breast on this wall ?
