Thanks for that, no damp patches on chimney breast but definitely a funny smell from somewhere.

Lack of Chimney Breast Ventilation Causing Mouldy Smell?

Our fireplace was blocked off with plasterboard about three years ago. I noticed that next door has done the same. They have had a ventilation grill put in at the bottom whereas ours hasn't. We have a funny mouldy smell in the living room. Could the lack of chimney ventilation be the cause? Thanks B...

Enlarge fireplace for electric fire and safety issues

I need to enlarge my fireplace to inset an electric fire. The hole needs to be 56cm wide and 52cm high and 12cm deep. I have seen and heard all sorts of horror stories about chimneys collapsing, the need to put a lintel in as a support etc. As a non builder I cannot see how cutting a hole 12cm deep ...

I have just put the mirror up with those metal plasterboard speed fixings. Worked fine.

Mirror Fixing to Bathroom Wallboard Advice Needed on Fixings

I need to fix a mirror to a bathroom wetwall. The board is 10mm thick and quite solidly made although corrugated, it is attached to plasterboard I am not sure what fixing to use.
Any help would be appreciated
