Thanks for the info. I have just found them on the site I ordered the radiator from.

Re: New radiators cold even though water is getting to them.

I think you could call them designer as they are tall grey ones. I have just checked the manufacturers details for the radiators and it does not say anything about directional. All it says is, 'if both water connections are at the bottom a baffle is advised to be fitted'. Whatever a baffle is in a r...

Re: New radiators cold even though water is getting to them.

Quick answer, don't know and don't know. Maybe I should get on to the supplier and find out, thanks.

New radiators cold even though water is getting to them.

I know this will be difficult without actually being there. My daughters two storey house has a large single story extension across the back of the house, approx 4 x 12 mtrs The heating was not very good when she purchased it, so she did have the system cleaned and supposedly had it pressure cleaned...

Flush fit ceiling lights

I just need an explanation. My daughter is having a new kitchen fitted. The fitter has, I presume taken a feed for the cabinet lights, from one of the ceiling lamps. He says he cannot refit the lamp because it does not meet current regulations and I don't doubt him. He say's that because the bulbs a...

Re: Help Changing Single 2 way Landing Switch to Double Switch

Can't find where to edit this post. I got the switch numbers the wrong way round. I want to swap the single switch on the right with the switch on the left, sorry.

Help Changing Single 2 way Landing Switch to Double Switch

I want to change a single two way switch (stairs landing) to a double switch I already have. One switch is to switch the stairs/landing, still two way, and the other switch I want just as a one way, to run a separate light at the bottom of the stairs. the two switches are as the images attached, hop...

Re: 16A MCB Tripping Even With no Power?

Thanks Mr White. I realise that a 32A is not a good idea, that is why I fitted the 16A in the first place. I know that in theory they should not 'trip' on their own. That is why I was asking if anybody had any idea whether it was possible, Faulty whatever, that holds the switch in the on position? I...

16A MCB Tripping Even With no Power?

Last September, with help from a few gents on here, I wired an old horse trailer to be used as a Gin bar. All has worked okay, until a couple of weeks ago. One of the 16A MCB's that I fitted in a 'Garage consumer Unit' is found to be in the off position. Even if there is no power attached to the tra...

Re: Odd Wiring in the Loft Found After Removing Water Tanks

Thanks Mr White. For some reason I woke in the night thinking that I had written the wrong colours down (odd mind!). That would make sense it being around the switch area. I think I may have some sleeving somewhere, I will put it on. Thanks for your help.

Odd Wiring in the Loft Found After Removing Water Tanks

I was up in my loft today, removing some old water tanks, as I now have a combi boiler fitted. Running along the side of one of the joists is a wire that is connected into four terminal blocks/ It looks like they are joining the two wires together. The cable is four core, red, black, yellow/green an...

Re: Maximum Wattage on a Spur With 80amp RCD

Thank's Mrsmith. That would probably be why one of the MCB's that has 'sockets' written above it, does not turn any sockets off, only the one that has a 32a MCB, itself attached to the 80a RCD. This one turns all the sockets off. It would not surprise me, with the builders of this house, as It has n...

Re: Maximum Wattage on a Spur With 80amp RCD

Sorry about my terminology, probably has something to do with me not being an Electrician. The Fuse box in the garage is the old kind that has fuse wire between two screw terminals. These fuses then push into an oblong socket. The garage is 4 mtrs from the house. The cable is attached to a fused soc...
