Fencing ideas on improving single-picket fence

Hi all, I was looking for some inspiration on a fencing issue I've got. My garden has 3 fences surrounding it; the side and back fence belong to me (with the left side fence having a gate in it), the other (right) side fence is shared with a neighbour. The posts are in my garden and the smooth side ...

Re: Bathroom Extractor Fan Replacement Advice

Hi, thanks for your reply. All of the movement ones appeared to also come with a timer, which suggested that they’d need a rewrite for the switched live?

I suppose I was asking for advice on a similar available model that was confirmed not to need a switched live.

Bathroom Extractor Fan Replacement Advice

Hi folks, I’ve got a bathroom extractor fan that’s just packed in and I’m looking to replace it (it’s a Vortice Quadro Micro 100 about 7 years old). It doesn’t have a timer and just takes two core (currently supplies by two core and earth). It’s wired in like this: Isolator switch —> Pull cord —> Fa...

Re: Drilling Wall Issues but do I Need a Better Drill?

In the end I went with the corded Titan, SDS Plus and a huge set of bits and chisels for £80 or so. So far, so good although it is a bit too powerful for an amateur like me - I've just managed to blow out a brick in the garage, creating another DIY job :(

Filling in Around Blown Brick (Tumble Drier Vent)

Hi folks, I was just putting the hole through the garage wall for a tumble drier vent (stitch drilling for a 100m vent pipe) and I managed to blow the brick a little on the left and right hand sides. I've managed to collect the shards (roughly) but after trying to use Fischer "Ready Mix" c...

Drilling Wall Issues but do I Need a Better Drill?

Hi folks, I've got a Bosch 18v cordless drill, and it works really well for most things except drilling regular housebricks; even on hammerdrill setting, it will take forever to drill a fairly new housebrick - about 20-30 seconds with a lot of pressure probably only makes a 10mm hole in the brick, a...

Re: Garage Guttering Pipe Size Help!

Got this sorted in the end - one of the connectors was mislabelled, but by this point I'd already done the legwork. I got hold of a 68mm to 50mm reducer, and it all fits and works perfectly. It was hell getting one of these locally so went online - part R666. I had another nightmare replacing some d...

Garage Guttering Pipe Size Help!

Hi all, for a few years I’ve noticed that the house developers had forgotten to fit a down pipe to the guttering on the garage, and so rain has been going over the fence without being channelled. The pipe coming down from the guttering measures 6cm. I’ve bought a number of bits to fit and they all w...
