Securing Floorboard When There's no Joist for Support

by u0362565 » Sun Oct 08, 2017 10:58 pm

Hi all,

I'm just wondering what methods exist for securing the end of a floorboard if it doesn't Overlap a joist? I have removed the board which is about 1m long and is secured to joists at one of the ends and in the middle.

The only thing I can think of is to secure a thin rectangular piece of wood to the underside of the boards surrounding the lifted one from above with screws then screw the lifted board to this "floating" support. Negatives I can think of are that i'd have quite a few screw heads visible and that I don't know how much support this will actually offer.

Any suggestions on the wood to use for the support piece or alternative methods to do this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot
