Hello
I installed a DPC at least 15 years ago. That damp has come and gone over the years.
Can you give me some advice on what I need to do to finally cure the damp
I’ve attached pictures of the damp from inside my property, typical rising damp signs.
I have now dug out a trench around the outside wall, its about 20cm wide / 20cm deep, filled with shingle
All air vents and drains are clear
Do I need to do anything to the brickwork below the DPC? When I dug the trench I noticed that the bricks below ground level were in contact with damp clay soil
From what I can see the lower bricks were getting damp. Should these bricks be rendered or treated??
Or is the fact that shingle will now be next to the below ground level bricks be enough?
Let me know your suggested cure.
Is an additional DPC required or further remedial work by me needed
Cheers
Paul
