Shower Pump not Activating After Replacing Leaky Mixer Tap

by Sharonvineyard » Wed Jul 10, 2019 6:27 pm

I had leaking shower mixer taps so I replaced them. They worked at first but then then stopped. A plumber looked and said it was possibly an air lock. He suggested that I open the nut attaching the cold pipe to the taps. I did this and the pump immediately activated - each time but when the taps were turned off, there was no response the next time the shower was turned on. There had been a bit of a leak where the cold pipe attached the taps. The leak was coming through the olive. I then turned off the water pipes and used PTFE tape to stop the leak. It seemed to work at first but then the shower / pump stopped working again. I am frustrated and baffled. My plumber can't come until next week but I have people coming to stay for the weekend. I am hoping that the solution is a simple one so that even I can fix it.
