Single plug socket stopped working

by STE218 » Tue Jul 25, 2023 1:34 pm

A single plug socket has stopped working. Never had an issue with it, just stopped working. Inspected the socket which is behind a unit so no damage can be made to it. Everything on the outside looks normal with no marks or discolouration. Opened up the socket to inspect inside. Same again with no damage or discolouration and all the wires are firmly attached. Decided to change the plug socket anyway with a new one. Wired it up and still no power. All the other sockets in the room are working fine just this one.
Has anyone got an idea of why this has happened ?

If a socket has stopped working, and all other sockets are working, the implication is there is a broken/damaged cable, or the socket is fed from something that has been switched off.

As for where, how would I know? it's your house. All anyone can do is trace the cable.
