Hi,
We would like to add a 4m x 3.5m extension to our property with bi-fold doors to 2 sides and then knocked through into the house. Builders I have spoken to so far are happy talking traditional blocks and £1,000 per sqm but none have any experience of timber frame/ steel, SIPS etc. In my simple mind, a steel frame would be the answer, since there would only be one solid brick wall and the rest would be mostly glass. I have done a lot of Googling and prices suggested for this type of work is double what it would be for block. Surely the construction time would be significantly less and that would offset the cost of the glass etc ? When I think about what I want to achieve it almost feels like something I should be able to buy off the shelf. I just wondered if anyone had experience that they could share of this type of construction ?
Thanks
