by debobey » Sat Aug 23, 2008 4:38 pm

I am doing a soakaway and have dug it and the trench, now doing pipes. I was told to use soil stack pipe which I have ready but it has just dawned on me that when I put the rainwater pipe into the soil stack and fill in the trench, the soil will fal in the bigger opening of the soil stack. can I use all rainwater pipe. please help

There will be a fitting available somewhere to join one to t'other but the usual trick is to overlap the pipes by a reasonable distance, one inside the other, loosely stuff newspaper between the two to about 2-3 inches from the top of the larger pipe, and then fill the gap with mortar. The newspaper eventually rots but has long since done its job.
