Sourcing replacement wc. All aspects of plumbing questions and answers, help, tips and information

I need to replace a broken wc, same old story, someone dropped the aftershave down the dunny and broke it.

Does anyone know how I can source a matched replacement?

It's an old problem but surely there are specilist suppliers out there who cater for these things.

Help and suggestions appreciated.

I'd try one of those reclammation yards/stores.

A clue as to what make it is will help. If it is Armitage Shanks, Fordham or some other well known make then you may be lucky and get one. Any foreign or cheaper makes - it may prove more difficult/impossible.

What's special about the one you have ? patterned ? coloured ?
Could you get a similar one ?
is it close-coupled ?

Hi,
Well the pan has no identification marks whatsoever and the cistern has 'caradon' writen on the inside of the lid.
Not helpful at all, I have taken a few pics and sent them to a company that specialises in discontinued stock and await their reply.

There's nothing particularly distinctive about it. Ten years old-ish, white and close-coupled.... and broke! :lol:

I think this may be the outcome! At some point searching becomes uneconomical, doesn't it?

White close-coupled toilets are easy to find, but finding a toilet pan to fit the cistern may prove difficult.

If the toilet and cistern are 10 years old - a new toilet pan against a 10 year old cistern will stand out. It doesn't matter how clean you've kept it, they'll be different shades.

Would it not be easier to replace the toilet and cistern ? the pan and cistern would match in colour.

I had to dig about and 'phone a few suppliers, I finally found one in Hampshire and the pan arrived yesterday. I'll post a link to his site once I find it again!!!!
There was a huge difference in prices being quoted though, so it pays to dig a little deeper.
