Hello,
I have a porch, open to the elements but very well sheltered, that has a very old (over 100 years) concrete/grit/cement/stuff floor. It is more or less level. I am planning to tile this floor at some point, probably within half a year. I will be laying some self-levelling compound before tiling. However as a short term fix for the ugliness of the floor, I was planning to lay the self-levelling compound now, to cover up the floor, then tile on it a few months down the line.
I see no problem with this, but somebody just told me that self-levelling compound is not designed for this sort of use, and would probably crack and degrade. This is perhaps because of the traffic (being walked on by two people twice a day at least) and the moisture from the atmosphere.
Is this true, or can I get away with just laying the compound?
