Sticky residue from removing lino on top of wooden floor

by garthynufc » Wed Feb 16, 2022 9:55 pm

Hi, total novice here. Moved into a house last year where the previous owners put down lino on top of wood flooring (long story…) Hated the lino so pulled it up, but I can’t get rid of the stickiness from the wood flooring. I’ve tried scrubbing repeatedly with soap and water and also with nail polish remover, which have taken the majority off, but it’s still slightly like walking on a nightclub carpet. Can someone suggest something to use to finally get rid of this please? Is it a case of more elbow grease or would a specific product help? Cheers

Hi garthynufc,
Chances are that it is spray carpet adhesive and you will only remove it by taking the surface off. Eg by sanding.

Ah ok, thanks. That’s not good! Will give that a go on some areas and see what happens
