strange connecting blocks to a new light fitting

by arches » Mon Jul 07, 2008 10:34 am

I have just installed a pair of outside lamps. When I went to connect the lamps to the supply the connecting block was not what I am used to i.e slip the cable into the block and tighten the screws, but some type of plastic contraption with what looked like a push in to lock.Try as I may I cant get them in securely. any suggestions?

Without seeing only a guess but many of our German imports one just pushed in a terminal screw driver in parallel hole to open then pop in cable the cable went in round hole the screwdriver in square one. Is this what you have. there are also used in maintainace free junction blocks used to bury cables in walls claimed to be better as screw can't work lose.

All best Eric
