I want to strip a layer of black spraypaint, a layer of yellow spray primer, but protect the original paintwork. This is a guitar body which was originally cream but has been painted over. I can see the original paintwork after scraping away at the top coat and primer with a stanley knife, but I think paint stripper would take it all off. Am I better sanding it or are there products which would keep the original layer intact?
