Switched or unswitched sockets?

by donpearce » Mon Apr 07, 2008 11:25 am

Hi, is there any regulation that dictates that switched sockets must be used in a workplace environment rather than unswitched ones?

Would a company have to replace existing unswitched sockets if there is?

Cheers

Its dependent on size if ≤ 32 amp then a switch in not generally required. Table 53.2 lists what devices can be used for Isolation, Emergency Switching, and Functional switching. And above 32 amp it is not allowed to use a plug and socket for functional switching. And not allowed at any size for emergency switching.
