taping joints?

by petepingping » Sun Jun 28, 2009 1:14 pm

hi, i have dot n dabbed wall boards onto all walls in my attic with the intention to skim coat it all but to save time and money have decided to just fill the joints, my problem is though that i have used 12mm wall boards without champhered edges. can i fill the joints and sand it down without the use of joint tape because its just going to leave a high spot all the way along the joins.many thanks

it can be done and made to look good by a pro.but no disrespect to someone who isnt a pro its going to look a bit ropey, but if you are happy with it then thats fine.let us know how you get on.

if getting in a pro then u may as well just get them to skim it. will be just as quick, if not quicker, than trying to scrim joints with no taper on the boards.
